Artist’s Statement
On September 11, 2001,
I was mounting an exhibit
of my photographs in the
Junction Art Festival in
Toronto at a temporary
gallery in the Mr. Television
store on Dundas Street
West. A store full of TVs.
I hung my exhibition and
watched the horror unfold
as it happened.

My exhibition, my photos,
suddenly felt pointless,
meant nothing. But the
show went on, as
planned.

Time passed and we’ve
seen more horrors unfold –
a seemingly never-ending
stream of carnage and
destruction. But life with all
its turmoil continues. We
may be angry, we may be
desolate, but we carry on.

These images are my way
of speaking out. I hope my
art speaks to you. And
while I expect it may
disturb, I hope my art also
provokes you to help heal
our wounded mother earth
– and ourselves.
