| Artist's Statement By focusing on abstractions and highlighting fragments of a greater whole, the body of my work depicts different ways of seeing. By so doing, I hope to entice viewers to look at ordinary and everyday things in a more perceptive way. This series of photographs – Abstractions 1-6 – were taken at Pier 4 in Hamilton Harbour. They abstract fragments of Canadian Transfer, a massive ocean-going freighter that serves Hamilton’s steel industry. In providing abstract images of an ordinary freighter, the photos revolutionize our way of seeing, shedding a new light on Hamilton’s harbour and shipping industry. |
